Roofapalooza 2012

Had a great time over at the Red Dragon Saturday night for Roofapalooza. Got to hang with our old friends Polly Pry, Jody James, and Martin Flanagan and met some new folks, too, like the Bedlamville Triflers and Clay Parker. Thanks for everything, Chris! Check out the photo page for some shots of the evening. Also, the north European train keeps rolling on, as we are back on the Rootsrevival playlist in Belgium.

Goodno(i)se

The Flatbed Honeymoon North-Central European juggernaut continues to roll right along … Gerrit Caspers’ Americana radio show Goodno(i)se on Meer Radio in the Netherlands recently told us that he has added “Iron Rails” to his playlist. Thanks, Gerrit! For whatever reason, things are happening in Belgium and the Netherlands for your friends in Flatbed Honeymoon. The Beatles went to Germany … maybe we need to go to the Netherlands?

Blue Moon Saloon, New Press

We had a rocking time at the Blue Moon Saloon in Lafayette recently (although this drumming blog poster needed the help of Jack Daniels to survive the gig and this damn pinched nerve in my neck), and also enjoyed what might be the last of that beautiful two-week period between the scorching hot summer and the cold, rainy winter at Chris and Sarah’s wedding gig in Port Allen last Saturday! Some gigs coming up in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette soon, so check the Gigs page. Also, we are currently the Artist of the Week at The Alternate Root Website … check it out!

Downtown Train

We had our first post-Jazz Fest New Orleans gig last Friday at Checkpoint Charlie’s and found a new favorite venue in the process … what a great place! Thanks to all for coming out and to Clyde for sitting in all night on the fiddle. And let’s not forget the great Angelina behind the bar! We’re making arrangements for another show down there soon, so keep an eye on the gigs page. In other news, we just had a cool write up in Dig Magazine. Thanks to Christie Matherne for taking the time to interview us and Kaju Sarkar for the great photos!

New Fans

We had another great time at the always festive (yet swelteringly hot) Magnolia Cafe last night. Met some folks from the Red Dragon scene who supported our Kickstarter project (based solely on the fact we pressed vinyl) and were responsive to our late set Gram Parsons and Neil Young covers (always a good sign!) Also … at the end of our set, a gentleman with a British accent came up and said how much he enjoyed the music. Turns out it was Jonathan Price, the actor, in town to shoot G.I. Joe 2. Lovely guy … check out his body of work. Pretty impressive! We gave him a CD … hope he digs it! Thanks to everyone who came and hung out with us.

Back Home

We made it back safe and sound after our “North American Tour,” as Jimmy loved to call it. Two shows in Knoxville, one at the incredibly eclectic Highlands Tap Room in Louisville, and two in Carbondale including a great gig at PK’s. Thanks to Neil and Hooch and Sarah and everyone else who came out to the shows and hung out with us. We had a blast! In other news, we are getting air play on 91.9 KRVM in Eugene, OR (thanks, Shotgun!) and might have some other exciting news to report soon. Check out the photos section for some shots from the road.
